Although you won't yet see the usual 'brown sign' pointing to the trail from the highway, it's easy to find. Follow the sign to the Ulmales-Labraga Lutheran Church, the beginning of the trail is marked with a specially designed trail name sign. The route continues in the direction away from the sea and winds up and down the picturesque old valley of the lower reaches of the River Riva. Rīva flows in a canyon-like ravine, the depth of which reaches 12 meters. Countless bends of the river and steep coastal outcrops open to the view, it is possible to observe magnificent natural views and a variety of plants. If you are lucky, you may also see a kingfisher or a black stork.
The river is more suitable for boating in spring and autumn.
The trail has 3 stages. The route is suitable for active walkers, it takes an average of 2.5 hours to complete all 3 stages and the total distance is 8 km. Several simple resting places with benches and fire places are available along the route.
The first two stages are marked with green paint on the trees. The last - the most difficult - is not specially designed and marked, it will appeal to travelers who love untouched nature and are ready to overcome various possible obstacles - broken trees, overgrown shore, etc. In order not to get lost, it is recommended to follow the river bank for the exit of the last stage, which will take you to the end of the route at the Gumbu Bridge. The route is linear, return is possible by road. However, it should be taken into account that public transport does not run here, so you should think about the return transport in time or measure the return journey on foot.
When visiting the nature trail, visitors are advised to wear comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for hiking.
"Riva's loki" are available all year round, giving each season its own shade in the natural palette. We meet in nature and what we bring in we take out!
