Pavilosta beach

Pāvilosta Beach is a popular tourism and recreational spot during the summer season. During stormy weather, it becomes a favorite destination for surfers, kiteboarders, and windsurfing enthusiasts. The extended piers offer excellent waves for riding!
Nearby attractions include the South and North Piers and the impressive "Jūrakmens" (Sea Stone). About 200 meters south of the swimming area lies the Pāvilosta North Pier, with the South Pier running parallel to it. Originally, in 1878. the harbor gates were constructed from rows of wooden piles with stone mounds laid on juniper branches. In 1929. the piers were extended using concrete blocks.
During the Soviet era, when the piers were monitored by border guards, walking on them was prohibited. In 2010. Pāvilosta harbor piers underwent complete reconstruction. The historic lighthouses at the ends of the piers were restored, and the harbor basin was deepened to 4,5 meters. A significant pier extension project was completed in 2018. adding nearly 100 meters to each pier.
