Ziemupe Evangelical Lutheran church

Among other Kurzeme churches, the Ziemupe Evangelical Lutheran Church stands out with its modest dimensions (25 x 11m) and architectural simplicity, as it does not even have a bell tower (perhaps this was influenced by the once established ban on building high and misleading landmarks near fairways). At the beginning, the church was made of wood, its altar was made in 1684, and it is one of the earliest examples of decorative sculpture with developed baroque features, therefore its wood carvings and paintings occupy an important place in the review of the decorative art of Kurzeme. The stone church was built in 1748. In the church, there is a musical instrument - a harmonium made in the 1920s in the company of Jura Bokums, the most prominent harmonium builder in Latvia from Liepāja. Received as a gift and restored, it serves the Ziemupe parish.
