Saka Church belongs to the oldest rural churches in Kurzeme. The church was built around 1560 in the place where the port of Saka used to be. Rebuilt in 1743. The bell tower was added to the church in 1844. The church is decorated with a model of a ship more than one hundred and seventy years old. People believed that it protected sailors from perishing. There are only a few churches in Latvia where the model of the ship was built in a place of honor.
