The memorial place of the blind Indrikis
A couple of kilometers from Apriķi in the direction of Aizpute is the Āborti cemetery, where the Latvian singer Neredžīgas Indriķis (1783 – 1828) is buried. Although Indrikis was uneducated and lost his sight as a child at the age of 5, he was inspired by G.F. Stender's Church Zings. The blind Indrikis was the first Latvian to have a collection of poems published (in 1806).
