Nida bog platform
On the W edge of the Nida marsh, a column observation platform for studying the marsh from afar. In autumn, the Nida marsh is an important resting and roosting place for geese and cranes. Nida marsh is the only marsh in Latvia, which is very close to the Baltic Sea, its area is 2411 ha.
Several rarities nest in the Nida marsh: the common plover (Numenius phaeopus), the yellow plover (Pluvialis apricaria), the meadow plover (Circus pygargus), as well as other endangered or protected birds. Wood pigeon (Colum-ba oenas) lives in the forest bordering the swamp. The bog is an important resting, feeding and gathering place for passing geese, mainly the white-fronted (Anser albifrons) and the sow goose (Anser fabalis), before crossing the Baltic Sea. In autumn, the Nida marsh is an important place for geese and cranes to rest and spend the night.

Nida swamp is included in the protected area of the nature park. Taking into account the importance of Lake Pape and Nida Bog in the life of birds, both during nesting and migrations, both of them together have been assigned the status of a wetland of international importance.
