The Nīca Evangelical Lutheran Church, built from masonry, was constructed between 1849 and 1851 according to the design of the architect F. Schulz of the Courland province. The Nīca Church existed and operated actively from 1849 until 1945. During World War II, in April 1945, German soldiers blew up the church tower. The roof collapsed, and partially the walls as well. In photographs from 1949, ruins can be seen where the tower once stood. After the war, the restoration of the church and its interior began. On May 21, 1961, the church was closed, and the activities of the congregation were halted. The congregation regained the church in 1990, at which time it had been converted into a gymnasium. Today, the Nīca Evangelical Lutheran Church is operational.
