The red three-story brick building is a typical example of late 19th-century industrial architecture, with an elaborate architectural design on the main facade. It is considered a local architectural monument, both in the Soviet era and today. The building originally housed the pharmacy carton factory of Gertrude Lindenberga, founded in 1890, which produced pharmacy boxes, sachets, and labels. Before World War I, the factory's products were distributed across the Russian Empire. During World War II, the factory was used by the German army for weapon repairs. After the war, an industrial combine was established based on the factory. In 1960, sections of the key factory "Kvēle" were relocated from Riga to the Aizpute district industrial combine, forming the Aizpute Key and Building Materials Factory, which later became the Metal Hardware Factory "Kurzeme," and for nearly 30 years has been known as the metal hardware factory JSC "Kurzemes atslēga." The company produces door and window hardware, garden and park furniture, fences, gates, components for other industries, and provides electroplating services.
Noteworthy is the interior of the club rooms at JSC "Kurzemes atslēga," which retains an authentic Soviet postmodernist style that has remained largely unchanged. Both the club and the production process can be visited by prior arrangement.
