Mārtiņš Freimanis' musical bench

The Musical Bench of Mārtiņš Freimanis is located in one of the most picturesque spots in the city – near the Aizpute Castle Manor, overlooking the mill pond and Aizpute St. John’s Church.

By sitting on the bench, you will be able to listen to excerpts from Mārtiņš' diary "The Ordinary Man and His Diary," narrated by him. These fragments, which are unavailable anywhere else, come from Maija Kalniņa’s personal archive, along with three songs.

The musical bench with a lantern was created by the artist-designer Ainars Alžāns.
