The last bishop of Courland, Duke Magnus, granted half of Dunalka village as a fief to the Amtmann of Cīrava, Christopher von Sanek, in 1578. A few years later, he granted the other half as well. During Christopher von Sanek's lifetime, from the late 16th century to the early 17th century, Dunalka Manor was built. From the late 18th to the early 19th century, extensive construction work took place on the estate. In 1790, a stable and a carriage house were built, and the construction of farm buildings was completed in 1807. By 1809, a family chapel already existed.
After the establishment of independent Latvia, the former manor buildings and land were distributed among new farmers. The grand manor barn was turned into a "Cultural house," while the old manor house became the parish council building.

The museum’s collection consists of donations from the people of Dunalka—old work tools and household items, categorized according to different trades.
