The building was constructed in the 1820s as the headquarters of a credit union (bank) and was later used for various purposes – it has housed a post office, apartments, a kolkhoz office, and the parish council.
The exhibits of the 56.737667, 21.387500 tell the story of the economic and cultural life of Cīrava Parish and Latvia. The collection includes a wealth of reference materials and photographs, church books, magazines, albums, as well as various household items, cobbler’s and hatter’s tools, horse harnesses, gramophones, and other fascinating objects.
The oldest exhibits in the repository were discovered in the territory of Cīrava Parish while cultivating the land – bronze bracelets and brooches from the 13th-14th centuries were found, along with a grain grinder estimated to be around 500 years old.
