Memorial Stone to Admiral Archibald Peter Theophil von Keyserling

Archibald Keyserling, also known as Archibald von Keyserling, was born on November 18, 1882, at Auguste Manor near Grobiņa. He was a member of the noble Courland family of Counts Keyserling.
Utilizing his extensive professional naval officer experience gained in the Russian Navy, including combat service, A. von Keyserling played a pivotal role in the creation and development of the Latvian Navy from 1920 to 1931, becoming the first Latvian admiral. He effectively represented Latvia abroad and in diplomatic circles within the country, led the establishment of the naval base in Liepāja, managed warship procurement deals in France, organized naval specialist training, and oversaw the formation of maritime aviation.
The memorial stone dedicated to A. von Keyserling in Grobiņa was unveiled on April 11, 1997.
