One legend tells that the Devil stole the stone from the Castle of Thunder (Pērkona pils). When Thunder (Pērkons) noticed the stone was missing, he set out to find the Devil. Upon finding him, Thunder, in his anger, split the stone into three parts with a lightning strike.
