Priekule Manor
The manor house of Baron von Korff in Priekule was built in the second half of the 18th century. In the second half of the 19th century, the manor house was remodeled according to the design of Paul Max Berči (1840–1911), the chief architect of Liepāja. At that time, an observation tower was also constructed nearby. During World War II, both the manor house and the tower were destroyed. The manor house was rebuilt after the war, while the tower regained its original appearance during the Latvian Awakening in the 1990s. The manor house now houses Priekule Secondary School, and the observation tower, adorned with a flagpole flying the Latvian flag, has become a symbol of the restoration of Latvia’s independence and a gathering place for Priekule residents on national holidays.
