The name of the manor was mentioned for the first time in 1357, when the Rummel family received the manor in fee. The manor park and some manor buildings have been preserved. Since 1961, the buildings have been occupied by the Mežupe elementary school, where children with special needs study.
The antiquities repository was established in 1987. The historical materials reveal the pages of the history of the village of Purmsātu, the learning of special education over the years for children with special needs in Mežupe elementary school.
