The baroque ensemble of Apriķi Manor (Apprikken) was developed by the Alokste River in the early 18th century. The manor house was built before 1742, but its octagonal tower in neo-Gothic style was constructed in the 19th century. Most of the other buildings – the barn, the brewery, and the mill – were built in the second half of the 19th century, and at the same time, a small landscape park was created. Apriķi Manor belonged to the von Osten-Sacken family since the 16th century, but from 1790 to 1852, it was the property of the von Kroft family. In the early 20th century, the manor was owned by Carl Gustav Mannerheim, who later became the president of Finland and is known as the author of the legendary Mannerheim Line, a fortification system used during the Winter War. Today, the Apriķi Museum is located in the manor, and its exhibits tell the ancient history of the region. A large group of gnomes has also found a home in the museum.
