The construction of the manor began in 1872 on the order of Baron Fyodor Keizerling. By November 1875, the building was completed. The baron rushed to build the new manor house in order to save the health of his newborn daughter Magda, who suffered from a hereditary lung disease.
From 1924 to 2010, the building housed the Vecpils Primary School.
Now, the Dižlāņi Manor hosts the Vecpils Cultural Center, a library, and a youth hostel.

Dižlāņi Manor Yew Tree
The yew tree was planted in 1875 by Baron von Keizerling himself, when relatives gifted him its sapling as a token. The yew has experienced much—both the joys and sorrows of the baronial family, and, as a witness, the changes of time and ruling powers.
The tree is decorative and beautiful but very poisonous. As a rare natural species and a unique conifer, it is included in the list of protected trees. It was introduced from Japan.
