"Velēkņi" offers a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature. Visitors can enjoy fishing, camping, and a relaxing escape in a tranquil natural setting. The owner of Velēkņi also provides a glimpse into Krote's history. During World War II, fierce battles took place in the Krote area, and even today, bunkers and other wartime relics can still be found here, including in Velēkņi.

A truly special oak tree grows here, with a cavity that still holds an engraving of Latvia’s first national coat of arms from 1919—miraculously preserved throughout all periods of Latvia’s occupation.
