Bakūze Manor is a family-tended place that we dream of transforming into a beautiful and accessible recreational spot in the scenic Embūte Parish. We wholeheartedly believe that, over time, the manor will become a stunning building that people from near and far in Latvia, as well as visitors from abroad, will want to visit.
The manor was built in the mid-19th century (construction took place around 1867) by Kārlis Dorothezen. Around 1860, he founded the first school in Bakūze, which has been operating in the manor’s buildings since 1940. In 1875, the manor’s owner donated 44 pūrvietas of land, 16 axes of firewood, and 160 roubles per year for the school’s upkeep.
For a time, Bakūze Manor was said to have belonged to V. Ukem, but before World War II, it was owned by the lawyer Sander. During World War II, the manor’s buildings were turned into a hospital, and a nearby airfield was established after part of the park was cleared. After the war, a school operated in the manor’s lord’s house.
Currently, the owners offer guided tours of the manor, interesting and educational stories, as well as accommodation services. There is also an exhibition of porcelain tableware.
