Wall painting of the Linmeyer House
In cooperation with the artist Gerda Stūris, a large-format mural "GOD SAYS LATVIA" has been created on the wall of the Linmeyer building. The main composition of the painting is formed by transforming a part of the house into a triumphal arch, inspired by Latvia's 20th century. 20-30 years of architecture and Latvian symbols – oak wreaths, Latvian patterns and other motifs.
The central part of the arch is decorated with the inscription "DIEVS SÄTĪ LATVIJU". The dynamic and attention-grabbing part of the wall painting is the allegory of Latvianness - the daughter of the nations on a white horse going through the arch. The wall painting reflects a version of the triumphal arch of Latvia, symbolizing the victory and triumph of Latvianness, establishing its own country and proving its courage and vitality. Thus, victory manifests itself in architecture, symbolizing the gate to the future.
The painted triumphal arch is complemented by the sea background and the architectural symbols of the world's continents, which allegorically represent Latvia's connection with the world, at the same time reminding of Aizput as an ancient port city. The wall painting is created by the association "Linmeijers" and the artist Gerda Stūre. The creation of the painting was co-financed by the Aizpute County Council.
