Aizpute is one of the oldest cities in Latvia. It is located on the right bank of the Tebra river and the first information about the construction of the city refers to the 14th century. The oldest part of the city was located between the current Atmodas, Jānis and Katoļu streets, but later it expanded in the direction of Jelgavas, Kalvenes and Kuldīgas streets. The construction of the old town of Aizpute is included in the list of European cultural heritage.
