Kazdanga's 196-hectare park is criss-crossed by a network of paths and bike paths. One of the bicycle paths winds along the shores of Dzirnezera to the grotto, offering a view of a beautiful landscape and interesting wooden sculptures along the way. Built in 1914, the boulder grotto was a favorite resting place of Baron von Manteifel. According to legends, the baron went to the grotto to drink tea and the park around it was so acoustic that the baron, sitting in the grotto, heard every conversation that took place in the manor.
