Memorial stone to Jānis Čakste

In the Bernāti Nature Park - on top of a high dune - there is a memorial stone to Jānis Čakste, the first President of the Republic of Latvia, who on September 27, 1924, while in Bernāti, said the significant words: "There should be a resort here!" and laid the foundation stone of the Bernati resort. In the summer of 2013, the memorial was improved by installing a comfortable staircase with two viewing platforms and benches.
