Rucava Arboretum
The creation project of the arboretum began in 1996, when the dendrologist and doctor of biological sciences from the Salaspils Botanical Garden, Raimonds Cinovskis, together with the Rucava Parish Administration, signed an agreement for the establishment of experimental plantings. The most suitable locations for the plantings were chosen on the Manor Hill and the adjacent forest near the school. In the following years, plantings were also established in the center of Rucava. The project manager for the creation of the arboretum was the dendrologist Ināra Bondare. The aim of the arboretum's creation is to study and assess the economic significance, decorativeness, suitability to local conditions, and acclimatization ability of plants in this region. Every year, new and exotic plant specimens from all over the world are added to the plantings.
The Latvian Olympic Club actively participates in the creation of the arboretum.
