Village of Pape Kõņi
Pape, Rucavas pagasts
The village of Pape Ķoņu is a unique historical fishing village - one of the rare pearls not only in Latvia, but in the context of the whole of Europe. It has still preserved such ethnographic and nation-building phenomena that have long since disappeared elsewhere. The village of Pape Ķoņu is located in Rucava parish on a sandy stretch of land between the sea and wetlands, which were formed on the site of an ancient lagoon. The village belongs to the territory of the Papes nature park. Since 29.10.1998 part of the territory of the village of Pape Ķoņi has been designated as an architectural monument of national importance "Fishermen's village of Pape Ķoņi". Accompanied by the owner of the campsite "Mikjani sēta", you have the opportunity to get to know the historical structure of the village and learn about the completed restoration works.
