Prāvests Ainars Jaunskalže +371 26073978
The church was built in 1874 and completely restored in 1932 after a fire in 1927. The height of the church tower reaches 45 meters. Inside the church, visitors can admire the organ, built in 1936, which is a valuable work of art. The organ was crafted under the guidance of organ master Jēkabs Jauģiešs. The organ prospect is the first in Latvia to use ornament patterns by Jūlijs Madernieks, carved by wood sculptor Pēteris Lankups, designed in a Latvian style. The details of the carving also include the text "God is our mighty fortress." In Rucava Church, one can also view the 19th-century altar painting "Christ with the Holy Communion" and two paintings by Indriķis Zeberiņš, "Jesus on the Cross" and "Jesus Blessing Children."
The church is open in summer:
Fri. 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Sat. 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Sun. 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Services are held every Thursday and Sunday, conducted by the rector of Rucava Parish, Ainars Jaunskalže, +371 26073978.
