The Saka Church is one of the oldest rural churches in Kurzeme. The church was built around 1560 on the site where the former Saka port was located. It was reconstructed in 1743, and a bell tower was added to the church in 1844. The church is adorned with a more than 170-year-old ship model. People believed that it protected sailors from destruction. There are only a few churches in Latvia where a ship model is placed in a place of honor.
