The exact date when the foundation stone was laid for the Saraiķi Evangelical Lutheran Church and when its construction began is not known. Two bells in the church, one from 1594 (Anno Matias) and the other from 1602, indicate that it was built at the end of the 16th century. During the Northern War of 1700–1701, the church was destroyed. However, at the end of the 18th century, the manor lord of Grobiņa, the noble of Iļģi and Saraiķi, Peter Georg Sigismund Offenberg, ordered the rebuilding of the church "for the glory of God and for the good of his Saraiķi people." The church was restored and consecrated on October 17, 1798.
The church is built of field stones and is a masonry structure with the characteristic tower, typical of Kurzeme churches (such as in Durbē, Grobiņa, Apriķi, Saka, Vērga, and Cīrava). The tower is attached at the end of the church building. There are 200 seats in the church.
The Saraiķi church was renovated in 1888, and in 1904, a sacristy was added. A member of the congregation, a Latvian woman, donated money for the addition, while the manor provided the materials.
