St. Bridget's Catholic Church
Celtnieku iela 33, Grobiņa
+371 26191522
One of the most modern buildings in Grobiņa. The construction of the church began in 2000 and was completed in two years. The church was designed by architects Aija and Andris Kokins. The building is created in a modern, symbolic architectural style – resembling Noah's Ark, which saves each individual. It also symbolizes the Swedes who arrived by boat and brought Christianity to the region. The church is like a ship, saving every person and guiding them through the raging seas, which symbolize earthly life, toward the shores of eternity.
In 2002, the church was awarded the title "Best Public Building in Latvia." The church is open to everyone on Sundays, but it is also possible to visit on other days by prior arrangement.
