Priekule Lutheran Church was built around 1680. The legend says that the blacksmith of Priekule manor made wings and flew with them from the church tower. The flight was successful, only the blacksmith was punished for his audacity - he was burned at the stake. Now this man is called Ikar of Priekule, and it is he who is depicted in the coat of arms of Priekule county. During the Second World War, the church was completely destroyed along with the entire town of Priekule. In 1998, it was renovated again and opened both to the Priekule Lutheran congregation and to the guests of the city of Priekule.
