For centuries, fishermen's homesteads lined the Baltic Sea like pearls on a string. Brave and skillful people lived there, who sailed far out to sea with boats to bring ashore abundant catches of herring, cod, flounder, and eel. The footsteps of time have radically changed this scene, and the tribe of Courland fishermen has disappeared. Only memories remain.
To preserve the evidence of the work and everyday life of Courland fishermen, an exhibition titled "The Courland Fisherman's Homestead" has been created in Saraiķi, Vērgale Parish. Here, you can view fishing tools and household items, and by prior arrangement, taste something from the fishermen's table.
