The name of Purmsāti Manor was first mentioned in 1357, when the Rummelu family received the manor as a fief. The manor park and some of the manor buildings have been preserved. Since 1961, the buildings have been home to the Mežupe Primary School, where children with special needs are educated.
The Antiquities Collection was established in 1987. The historical materials reveal the history of the Purmsāti village and the development of special education over the years for children with special needs at the Mežupe Primary School.
