Along the way, you can see the Grobiņa hillfort, ancient town, and old burial grounds. Grobiņa, referred to by newcomers as Seeburg (Lake Castle or Sea Castle), is the first inhabited place in Latvia recorded in written sources. It has been inhabited since the Stone Age, and by the early 1st century AD, Grobiņa became a center for the Western Baltic tribe, the Curonians. Until the 9th century, Grobiņa was a large settlement known worldwide at the time as a city-like community of Curonians and Vikings. The park and walking trail are suitable for walking, cycling, as well as convenient for parents with strollers and people with mobility impairments. The Ālande River Park can also be enjoyed by boat along the river route.
