Ziemupe Hiking Trail

This nature and cultural heritage exploration hike starts at the TIP “Jūras māja” and offers an opportunity to explore the history of Ziemupe, see a swordfish, and listen to one of the stories of Ziemupe.
The trail will take you to the junipers of Ziemupe, the church, and the stone pile. During the hike, you will be able to learn about different types of dunes, biotopes, and plants.
On the way back, you will have the chance to observe the pine massif of the hill, marking the end of the life cycle of the forest.
Distance: 12 km
Route type: Circular, can be divided into two sections. It is recommended to check the wind direction before starting and walk so that the wind blows from your back.
Start: from Ziemupe TIP “Jūras māja” or Ziemupe beach parking lot
Duration: 3 hours, depending on walking speed
Accessibility: Not suitable for mothers with baby strollers or wheelchair users.
Surface: gravel road, forest paths, well-trodden trails, sandy beach, during the water period, small streams must be crossed, the Ziemupe river can be crossed via a bridge.
Getting there: by car
Important instructions:
- Do not break branches, do not start a campfire, and do not set up tents, as we are in the Ziemupe Nature Reserve.
- Plan your hiking direction based on the wind so that when walking along the sea, the wind blows from behind. If the wind is light, it will not interfere.
