The trail was created for getting to know Pūsēni dune and it leads to the very top of the highest dune in Latvia - Pūsēni dune (37 m). The locals call the dune a mountain. There are both stairs and a footpath to reach its peak.
The dune itself was formed in the period from 1785 to 1835, when about 80 houses were buried under the sand, including the "Pūsēnu" house, where the forester's family lived. The dune is named after the pollinated houses. In the 1970s, a part of Pūsēni hill was excavated and the sand was used for the production of silicate bricks. The works were stopped around 1980, when the supplies of sand suitable for production ran out.
